Newport Beach, CA, November 14, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Tween Publishing is a little company on a big mission: to provide innovative and engaging curriculum teaching middle school students essential college readiness skills. Tween is leading the way with The Middle School Student Guide to...® series. Tween recently rolled out the second in its three-part series: The Middle School Student’s Guide to College.
“The path to college begins in middle school,” says Susan Mulcaire, the series author. “The earlier a student sets a goal for college, the more likely it is that he or she will achieve that goal. Too many young students are turned off to the idea of four more years of school after high school. Others enter high school with little understanding of the college path, and quickly become overwhelmed.”
The Middle School Student’s Guide to College is a fun introduction to the tangible, lifelong benefits of a college education and important college path concepts. Fourteen age-appropriate lessons and activities such as College...What’s in It for You? I Spy a College Campus!, Let’s Apply to College, Alternative Paths to Success, Major Discovery, and It’s On! College Sports, encourage middle school students to visualize themselves as college students and step confidently on the path to college.
Mulcaire believes that all middle school students should be on a college path. “Middle school students are too young to make a decision or choose a path eliminating college from their future.” she says. “ While, ultimately, a traditional four-year college may not be the ideal postsecondary path for every student, college readiness is key to preparation for any postsecondary educational option.”
The Middle School Student’s Guide to College follows Tween’s popular work habits and organizational skills curriculum The Middle School Student’s Guide to Ruling the World! The third program in the series 80 Days to Super Study Skills, is scheduled for publication in 2012.
“Our resources eliminate the haphazard, inconsistent approach many schools take to teaching these essential skills and provide a 6-7-8 triple play of classroom-ready, comprehensive college readiness instruction.” says Mulcaire “These resources are ideal for a exploratory, life skills, study skills, orientation, advisory, intervention and enrichment.”
