Does Giving and Receiving Go Hand in Hand for Women?
Online radio show poses question during Thanksgiving month.
Tucson, AZ, November 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- It is said that giving and receiving go hand in hand, but is that really true for a lot of women out there?
What about all those people who give regularly –to their children, husbands, friends, schools, churches, non profits, etc. And it’s not that they don’t get anything in return, they just don’t allow themselves to receive. Or they do receive, but don’t fully allow themselves to deserve or enjoy it.
It can definitely go the other way around. “So do you have a healthy balance?” asks Ana Lewis, founder and radio host of The Women on the Verge (WOTV) online radio show. Giving and Receiving is the topic that the WOTV radio show will delve into on Thanksgiving month. Anyone worldwide can tune into the monthly show by visiting www.womenontheverge.net. It is slated next for November 16 from noon to 1 p.m. ET.
“Are you as good at receiving as you are at giving, or vice versa? How do you feel when someone gives you a compliment? Are you more comfortable being the giver or the receiver?” Lewis asks.
Women can find more thoughts on the topic on the Women on the Verge (WOTV) online community, which also encompasses blogs, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. WOTV has been featured in Marie Claire magazine, its blogs garner 1,000,000 hits a month and the community boasts 10,000 social media followers. Members span every continent and include business owners, New York Times bestselling authors, mothers and grandmothers.
This month’s radio show panelists include Judy Kinney, community organizer and life coach; Marta Moran-Bishop, author of “Wee Three, A Mother's Love in Verse” and creative videographer; Jessica Mason Pieklo, women's rights activist and attorney; Dawn Rivers, political junkie and micro-business expert; and Elin Stebbins Waldal, author of “Tornado Warning, A Memoir of Teen Dating Violence and Its Effect on a Woman's Life” and founder of Girls kNOw.
Women on the Verge was founded in September 2009 by Lewis in Tucson, Arizona. Lewis previously belonged to an online community for work at home moms where she found valuable support. However, the site didn’t provide information about who she was interacting with, so she started Women on the Verge, featuring profiles similar to those on Facebook. WOTV continues to grow and incorporates all forms of social media today.
