NoMachine Extends Client Support to Lion
Mac OS X 10.7 users continue to get remote access to their Linux servers using NX Player, the replacement to NX Client.
Cincinnati, OH, November 19, 2011 --(PR.com)-- NoMachine, the award-winning provider of virtual desktop and application delivery software, has extended its multi-platform solution to the latest Mac OS X 10.7, also known as Lion.
NoMachine is aware that from the release of Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), Apple no longer supports the PowerPC emulator, Rosetta. As users of NX Client for Mac will know, NX 3.5.0 and earlier versions have been natively compiled for PPC and require the Rosetta translator to be present on the OS X device. Consequently, NX Client does not function on Lion installations.
With the approaching release of NX 4, the new client, called NX Player, is natively built for Mac Intel. Therefore, NX Player will work without Rosetta support. Although NX Player requires an NX 4 server in order to take advantage of the new functionalities, it maintains backward compatibility and can be used to connect to NX 3.x servers. Users of Lion and NX Client 3.5.0, or earlier versions, must install NX Player in order to connect to their remote NX server.
A Preview version of NX Player 4 for Mac OS X is available in the download section of NoMachine's website. The new NX Player will allow Mac users who have already upgraded to Apple’s Mac OS X Lion to continue to remotely access all their documents and applications on their NX servers. However, users should note that this is not a final version, and it may still be affected by some minor issues.
NoMachine invites all its customers and users who have any questions about using NX Player Preview with Lion to contact the company. While NoMachine is committed to fixing problems in as short time as possible, users should check the website for updates about the latest version of NX Player. Furthermore, to keep up-to-date with our software releases, users are invited to sign up to the company's mailing list, NX Announce: www.nomachine.com/mailinglist.php. NoMachine also posts all updates on Twitter: @NXFollowers.
