Surprise Lake Camp Kicks Off It's 110th Anniversary Celebrations with Deep Discount Announcement
Florida, NY, November 19, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Surprise Lake Camp will celebrate its 110th Anniversary in 2012. To jumpstart the agency’s festivities, the famed camp has announced that its popular “Get Your Feet Wet” introductory program will cost only $110. “We thought this would be a great way to attract new campers for our birthday summer,” said Seth Stein, who has been the program’s supervisor since 2008. “$110 in honor of Surprise Lake Camp’s 110th Anniversary – it’s going to be bigger and better than ever.”
The event was announced on the camp’s Facebook page last month. The news went viral and was immediately shared by over 60 fans. During the next 24 hours, the camp received dozens of inquiries and several registrations.
Surprise Lake Camp, founded in 1902, is the oldest Jewish sleepaway camp in the country that still serves its original population on its original site. The Get Your Feet Wet program, which began in the 90’s, is a 5-day camp experience that is led by an energetic and spirited group of volunteer alumni and hand-picked summer staff members who give campers a taste of what summer camp is all about. The 2012 Get Your Feet Wet program will take place Wednesday, August 22nd to Sunday, August 26th and is available to children entering grades 1-5. The normal rate is $500.
The camp will kick off its 110th Anniversary year in March with a gala on Saturday evening, March 10th at the Marriot Marquis in Times Square. At that event, Surprise Lake Camp will honor Joy Henshel of Scarsdale, NY and Joel “Whammy” Kaufman, of Bayside, Queens. The camp will also honor the life and leadership of Milton Herson, a former Winter Camper and Board Member who passed away in September.
Throughout the summer of 2012, the camp will have a series of special programs for alumni and campers at the camp’s site in Putnam County. People seeking information about Surprise Lake Camp or about 110th Anniversary events can call 212-924-3131 or email info@surpriselake.org
