New York, NY, November 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- 2012 will mark an important event in the history of camping!. In 2012, one of the leading camps in the nonprofit world, Surprise Lake Camp, will celebrate its 110th Anniversary. Surprise Lake is the oldest Jewish camp in the country that still serves its original clientele on its original site. It has been a leader in the camping world throughout its history, enriching the field for nonprofit and private camps alike.
The cornerstone of Surprise Lake Camp’s mission since 1902 has been a commitment to scholarships for children who cannot otherwise afford a camp experience. Surprise Lake gives $900,000 a year in scholarships using a fee scale that is based on income and family size. Unfortunately, the camp only generates $500,000 in scholarship revenue, leaving it with a scholarship gap of $400,000 a year.
To eliminate this scholarship gap and preserve Surprise Lake Camp’s historic commitment to helping families in need, the camp’s Board has undertaken a 110th Anniversary fundraising goal of $3 million, which is critically important to its future.
Surprise Lake Camp is reaching out to the greater Community, including campers, staff, alumni, friends and families to support this effort. This is something one should do simply as a matter of giving back to the camp they love and providing opportunities to children in need as a gift to Surprise Lake Camp and all the people who have benefited from an SLC experience, won't you join in raising $110,000 for camp scholarships?
