Titusville Community Thanksgiving Service Nov. 23
The First Presbyterian Church of Titusville will host the community's annual Thanksgiving Eve service--a long-time collaboration of the village's Methodist, Catholic, and Presbyterian congregations--on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 7:30 p.m.
Titusville, NJ, November 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The First Presbyterian Church of Titusville will host Titusville's annual community Thanksgiving service of worship on Wednesday, November 23 at 7:30 p.m., preceded by a dessert reception at 7 p.m. The service is an ecumenical collaboration of Titusville's Presbyterian congregation, along with The Titusville United Methodist Church and St. George’s Catholic Church.
"We always look forward to hosting Titusville’s Thanksgiving Eve service," said the Rev. Will Shurley, pastor of the Presbyterian church. "The service gives all of us in the Hopewell Township area an opportunity to meet, truly, as one community to give thanks for God's blessings on us."
The three church's choirs will combine to provide music for the service, which will include leading congregational hymn settings of “Now Thank We All Our God” and “Come, Ye Thankful People Come." Guest organist Andrew Long, a former intern at the Presbyterian church and a senior at Princeton Theological Seminary, will accompany the choirs and congregation. Also, following a long-established rotation tradition among the churches, Deacon Larry Gallagher of St. George’s Church will preach and the Rev. John Morrison, pastor of the Methodist congregation, and Elizabeth Cluff, pastoral intern at the Presbyterian church and a senior at Princeton Theological Seminary, will lead prayers.
"All members of the community, regardless of church affiliation, are welcome to join with us. We hope our village will capture the spirit of the first Thanksgiving as it gathers for fellowship and worship," said Shurley.
The First Presbyterian Church of Titusville is located at 48 River Drive in Titusville. More information can be found by calling the Titusville United Methodist Church at (609) 737-2622, the First Presbyterian Church at (609) 737-1385 or St. George's Roman Catholic Church at (609) 737-2015.
