Raleigh, NC, November 24, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Operation: Coming Home (http://operationcominghome.com), a joint volunteer project by the Triangle Veterans Association, Royal Oaks Building Group, Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County (HBA), and Gaines & Company, among others, has announced that Sgt. Carlos Evans, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and his family will be the recipients of the third house donated by the organization in a ceremony to be held in Cameron, N.C. on Friday, Dec. 2. Operation: Coming Home volunteers and local dignitaries will be on hand to present Sgt. Evans with the key to his new house, which he will share with his wife, Rosemarie, and their two daughters, Nairoby and Genesis.
Sgt. Evans joined the Marines in 2004 and has been deployed to combat areas four times, the first three to Iraq and the last one to Afghanistan. While in Afghanistan, Sgt. Evans was severely wounded by an improvised explosive device, losing both legs above the knee and his left hand. The house created by Operation: Coming Home has features designed to provide him with easy accessibility to all rooms.
Quotes:
“Operation: Coming Home is entirely dedicated to building homes to honor the sacrifice of our nation’s heroes,” said Rich Van Tassel, member of Operation: Coming Home’s board of directors and president of Royal Oaks Building Group. “Sgt. Carlos Evans’ bravery and the heart he has for his family and country have been a source of inspiration to everyone who has worked on this project. We hope that through this, we can show the tremendous amount of support and thankfulness that our volunteers have for him and all of our veterans.”
