Andrew Kirby Gallery Donates a Signed Fine Art Print to the Bolsa Chica Conservancy for Silent Auction Fundraising Event December 9, 2011

Huntington Beach, CA, November 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Andrew Kirby Gallery donated a one-of-a-kind fine art print to the Bolsa Chica Conservancy to be included in their upcoming silent auction fundraising event to be held December 9, 2011 at the Hilton Waterfront in Huntington Beach, California.

The Bolsa Chica Conservancy is a private non-profit 501 (c)3 group in Huntington Beach California dedicated to providing environmental education. The group is hosting its annual banquet to present the Conservator of the Year Award to the Disneyland Resort for it’s leadership in environmental conservation as reflected through it’s employees, its work in the community and more importantly, its commitment to conserve, protect and enhance natural resources and the environment. Disneyland employs sustainable practices and technologies to reduce emissions and energy consumption, manage waste and maintain water quality throughout its parks and properties worldwide.

Each year, as a part of the Conservator of the Year Award, the Conservancy hosts a silent auction and fundraising event to continually support education and habitat restoration programs at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands and the new Center for Coastal Ecology (CCE), a permanent learning center for coastal ecosystems.

“One of the event coordinators asked if I would donate something and I thought the best thing to do is to actually go to the wetlands and capture an image of what the conservancy makes possible, said Andrew Kirby. “My wife and I went one bright day and captured an image of a pelican at the mid-morning feeding time. In this particular image, his reflection acted as a mirror and you can still see the ripple of where he had just pierced the surface to pluck a snack from the wetland’s glassy waters.”
