Pueblo West, CO, November 30, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Outskirts Press, Inc. has published Cold, Wet and Miserable by J. Allen Clary. The author's most recent book to date is a 5 x 8 paperback in the historical fiction category and is available worldwide on book retailer websites such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. The webpage at www.outskirtspress.com/coldwetandmiserable was launched simultaneously with the book's publication.
This is the story about eleven men sent on a mission behind enemy lines. Eleven American soldiers who would like nothing else, but to eat hot meals and sleep in a warm tent or stand beside a roaring fire. But there is a war going on and these kinds of luxuries don’t exist up on the front lines.
Sergeant 1st Class Alfred Brooks has been through many throat gripping situations. His calmness in battle and his ability to make quick battlefield decisions has earned him the respect of his commanders and the men in his platoon. Along with Corporal Alex Sims, Corporal Charles Baker, Private Samuel Lemons, Private Timothy Jackson, and six others, he faces the harsh winter in the Ardennes Forest against immeasurable odds and the feared and fanatical SS. It is a gripping story of their fight for survival and their determination to accomplish their mission.
Trapped behind the German juggernaut, they find themselves moving deeper into German held territory, heading east into Germany itself just to keep from getting captured or killed. These eleven men fought side by side in the harsh climate of North Africa and earned their honors fighting against the fierce soldiers of Rommel’s feared “Africa Corp” and the determined German defenders in the hedgerows of Normandy. They then battled their way across France into Belgium.
Readers will ride along with these heroic soldiers as they battle their way across the frozen landscape on their way back to allied lines and friendly faces.
261 pages in length, Cold, Wet and Miserable is being aggressively promoted to appropriate markets with a focus on the historical fiction category. With U.S. wholesale distribution through Ingram and Baker & Taylor, and pervasive online availability through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and elsewhere, Cold, Wet and Miserable meets consumer demand through both retail and library markets with a suggested retail price of $16.95.

About the author:
Jeff Clary started writing in November of 2010. He loves history, but World War II history is his first love. His family has fought in many of the wars in US history dating back to the Revolutionary War and his niece, Melissa, has uncovered written documents proving that his ancestors fought in that war. He have spent the last thirty years studying World War II history watching hours and hours of live footage and reading hundreds of books and also talking to his father and his brother, who both fought in Europe.
Clary has seen first hand most of the equipment and armor used in WW II. He has been to Pearl Harbor and stood over the USS Arizona. He has been on the USS Missouri and has also seen the equipment and armor that the Japanese used. He has also been in submarines used in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters.
There are only about ten percent of the World War II veterans left alive today and what they did must be remembered. Clary had the unique honor of meeting a member of the 101st Airborne Division who jumped behind the German lines on D-Day. His name is Earl McClung. Earl and veterans like Earl must be remembered for their heroism and sacrifices. If Clary’s book shows the pride and honor and sacrifice that our soldiers have shown in themselves and our country, then he has accomplished his mission.
