New Record Label Formed in Massachusetts
"KUTROC Records is a different kind of label. It is a label dedicated and focused on developing a few key cross-over artists at a time. A label where artists have a little bit more control over their material and are encouraged to write or co-write each song," Medina said.
Burlington, MA, December 01, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Massachusetts resident Luis Medina has started his own record label and signed three pop/r&b/hip hop artists from Boston.
For the past twenty years, Medina, has worked as a systems consultant in the Information Technology (IT) industry, where he held several positions from senior systems engineer to IT manager.
In 2011, he decided to return to his true passion, music, and incorporate his new label KUTROC Records as a corporation. Medina said he decided to pursue his dream of building a record label while learning the recording industry. "This is an exciting time to build a brand in the music industry as technology advancements continue to level the playing field," said Medina.
In his youth, Medina learned of his passion for music as a DJ. When not in high school learning about computers, or DJing on weekends, he spent his time recording mixtapes for friends, and scratching on records with various rappers.
It was during this time that the name of the future record label he would launch some twenty years later would be revealed as "KUTROC." Once learning the inner-workings of the record industry, Medina decided to get his label incorporated with the state of Massachusetts.
"KUTROC Records is a different kind of independent label," Medina said. "It is a label dedicated and focused on developing a few key cross-over artists at a time. A label where artists have a little bit more control over their material and input in the recording process. A label where singers are encouraged to write or co-write each song," Medina said.
"I want my label to be known as the artist's label where artists are rewarded for their hard work in the recording process," Medina said.
Unlike the "fit into a box" model, Medina's approach is to uniquely develop and manage each artist and create a culture. "I'm involved in every aspect of the project, from the selection of producers to co-writing to overseeing and supervising. It's important that any producer we work is open minded in the creative process," Medina said.
Medina is currently preparing to market his new label and artists in the mid-west and online beginning 2012. "Running the label, working with each artist from scratch, and making connections have been very rewarding and we're going to do big things together," he said.
"KUTROC Records utilizes technology and outsourcing to augment its administrative staff team. The label has implement a solution that covers all aspects of the recording process to ensure the highest professional product delivery under budget," Medina said.
