Center City Arts (of Stairways Behavioral Health) Presents 8th Annual Holiday Art Show & Sale
Center City Arts, an arts and wellness program of Stairways Behavioral Health, presents their 8th Annual Holiday Art Show & Sale on December 2-3, 2011. Unique gifts of art and handmade crafts will be on exhibit and for sale, with all proceeds benefitting clients of Stairways, students of Center City Arts, and will further arts and wellness programming, embracing art as a means of recovery.
Erie, PA, December 01, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Stairways Behavioral Health’s Center City Arts, 138 E. 26th Street in Erie, PA, embraces art as a means to recovery in their 8th Annual Holiday Art Show & Sale, once again joining with the Erie Art Museum and several Erie art galleries for Gallery Night: Holiday Edition, December 2, 2011, from 7-9 p.m.
Gallery Night-goers will kick off their holiday shopping while supporting Stairways’ Center City Arts program. Hand-made art, including paintings, original prints, fused glass, jewelry, ornaments, painted gourds, hand-woven purses, and much more will be for sale at the most unique venue in town. All proceeds benefit students and programming of the Center City Arts studio.
Center City Arts provides a sustainable community setting where creative expression is celebrated and taught as a means of enhancing mental well-being. Using the finest methods and materials, Center City Arts creates an environment that brings out the best of participants of all ages. This year, more than 600 clients of Stairways Behavioral Health created art through this unique and pressure-free arts experience.
2011 marks the 8th Annual Holiday Art Sale for Center City Arts, who is once again coordinating efforts with the Erie Art Museum Gallery Night and as Erie Downtown’s "Downtown D’Lights" event. Perry Square and State Street light-up for the holidays at 6 p.m.
New for 2011, Center City Arts will also feature an exhibit and offer sales of eight well-known and professional local artists. Center City Arts director, Lee Steadman, hopes to help make participation open to as many of the regions’ artists as possible. "With a record 14-gallery participation this year, there remained a need for more space where additional local master artists could offer their work to the huge community of art-lovers who come out to the galleries during these tours," says Steadman.
Local artists who join CCA students in showing and selling their artwork this season will be: Brian Pardini (wood sculptures), Marsha Cisek (mixed media), Kate Bender (prints), Dan Byler (ceramics), Brad Lethaby (paintings), Lee Steadman (paintings), Gary Spinosa (sculptures), Kathy Umlaf (ceramics), and David Seitzinger (sculptures).
Also new for 2011 - expanded Center City Arts hours on Saturday, December 3 from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., to extend gallery open house and shopping into a second day.
