Georgia Dance Theatre Presents The Nutcracker Ballet
Full-Scale Production in Peachtree City, Top Ten Place for Families, December 10th and 11th
Peachtree City, GA, December 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- For it’s 10th Christmas, Georgia Dance Theatre presents a full-scale production of the holiday family-favorite The Nutcracker Ballet at McIntosh Auditorium at 201 Walt Banks Road in Peachtree City on Saturday, December 10th at 7pm and Sunday, December 11th at 2pm. For an extra special treat, Santa Claus will be available during intermission to visit with the children and hear all their holiday wishes and dreams.
The Nutcracker is a magical feast for the eyes and ears. At her parents’ Christmas Eve party in Germany in the 1800s, Clara’s mysterious godfather, Drosselmeyer, gifts her with a Nutcracker he has made in the form of a toy soldier. Her jealous brother, Fritz, breaks it and when she goes to sleep that night she dreams that the family’s Christmas tree magically grows to enormous heights, the Nutcracker comes to life and battles the household mice and then changes into a handsome prince. The “Nutcracker Prince” crowns Clara his princess and together they fly magically to the Land of Sweets where, in Act II, they are honorees for glorious dance performances by snowflakes, the Sugar Plum Fairy, angels, visitors from other lands, and a variety of Christmas candies.
Guest ballet artist, Luke Lazzaro, is joining the Georgia Dance Theatre for this perfectly wrapped holiday treat. Lazzaro hails from Curitiba, Brazil where he started his dance training at the age of 11. Five years later he was offered a scholarship for the School of American Ballet in NYC and that was the start of his career as a classical dancer throughout the USA. He went on to study and perform with the San Francisco Ballet and Opera and also worked as a leading dancer for the Connecticut, Cincinnati and Louisville Ballet companies. He's also an accomplished musical theater performer and was most recently seen as the principal dancer in the production of the Phantom of the Opera in Nevada.
The Nutcracker Ballet is all the stuff that Christmas is made of and has become a tradition for families in this area and throughout the world for generations. General Admission tickets are $20.00 and still available for the Saturday performance. More information is available at http://www.gadance.com.
