Houston Mixed Martial Arts School - Elite MMA - Raises $17,000 for Heart Gift Charity

Houston, TX, December 06, 2011 --(PR.com)-- http://www.elite-mma.com - On Saturday November 12th 2011 the Houston-based Mixed Martial Arts School - Elite MMA held an in house tournament, kick-a-thon & auction to raise money for the Heart Gift Organization. One of every 100 children born in the developing world will never see his or her first birthday because of congenital heart disease, according to the International Children's Heart Foundation. Many children in developing nations who have congenital heart disease are never diagnosed, the says Heart Gift, and never undergo life-saving surgery.

Elite MMA decided to help make a difference. The event which ran all day and included more than 300 of the schools student base getting involved in the fundraising. The Kick-A-Thon participants even completed over 30,000 kicks in just 15 minutes.

Each year, the HeartGift Foundation brings children from around the world for free surgery to correct life-threatening heart defects. They come for surgery because their home countries lack adequate health care. They leave Texas with repaired hearts - and a new sense of hope for the future. Because of the money raised HeartGift is able to bring a sponsored child here and save his life.
