Everyone Needs a Helping Hand: From Scratch Published by Outskirts Press
Accomplished children’s author Barbara Bryan’s newest trilogy of innovative children’s tales shows that everyone can use a little help sometimes, even though it’s not always easy to admit it, nor know when it’s best to give it.
Novato, CA, December 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Barbara Bryan announced today the latest in her series of charming children’s books, From Scratch, Three Short Stories for Children, published by Outskirts Press. In these new tales, Barbara entertains her young readers and listeners with three separate facets of help, a sometimes difficult subject for youngsters to learn and practice.
In “A Handful of Tears,” thirteen- year -old Catherine finds she has an unusual malady. She cannot cry. No sad movie or grief tale can prompt a tear from her eye, but she has no idea how to ask for help. Help does come, however, and from a most unusual source.
“Rooster Cockborn” tells the tale of an apparently selfish rooster, cock-a-doodle-dooing all over the barnyard, and, getting criticized by all the other chickens who are convinced he is just too full of himself. When Rooster gets an enticing wink from a lovely hen, he falls immediately in love. As Bryan’s story unfolds, readers discover he’s actually quite the family man.
In the book’s final tale, “Not So Nice Wiley,” children are introduced to a rude boy whose obnoxious antics upset one person after another. After pushing his classmates out of the way, and meanly wrecking a freckled girl’s pack, he continues his selfish spree around the neighborhood. When it’s time for him to ask for help, he receives a sudden awareness.
The seventh book in Barbara Bryan’s collection, From Scratch provides children and adults alike with three new stories they will enjoy again and again.
