New York, NY, December 08, 2011 --(PR.com)-- iGavel Auctions associate seller Nye & Company’s auction is now featured on www.iGavelAuctions.com until December 16th. The sale contains nearly 900 lots of fine and decorative art from various estates and collections, priced to encourage bidding and participation. Numerous items in the auction are well-suited for holiday gifts.
One of the renowned collectors of and authorities on Miriam Haskell jewelry consigned nearly 300 lots of iconic examples of her early 20th century pieces, including matched ensembles, brooches, pins, bracelets and earrings. Several of the pieces were designed by Frank Hess, her noted confidante and principle in charge of design. DeMario, Robert and Stanley Hagler designed other pieces in the sale. A tranquil landscape by E. Charlton Fortune (American, 1885-1969) depicts a floral foreground and a distant Monterey Bay. Fortune was born in California and then trained in Scotland and England.
Highlights of the Nye & Company auction include: A pair of Victorian carved oak hall chairs, a figured pine breakfront, several side cabinets and wall cupboards and an extension dining table and alabaster light fixtures. Numerous mantle clocks in the French taste, Meissen porcelain and some Asian decorative arts compliment the fine art, toy soldiers and silver.
The Nye & Company holiday auction also contains painted Cottage furniture, Nancy McClelland-decorated window valances, English style Windsor chairs, and colored glass. There are two very large Wedgwood porcelain dinner services for more than twelve. Further, the auction includes Lalique, Baccarat, Daum and Waterford glass. The silver is Tiffany and Wallace’s Grand Baroque, among others. A large Egyptian Revival .800 silver coffee and tea service with similar tray is marked Firenze. There is also a bone-inlaid pool table amongst the furniture.
Nye & Company relocated to Montclair and Bloomfield, New Jersey making them more easily accessible from New York City. John and Kathleen Nye acquired Dawson’s after his long and fruitful Sothebys career.
