Houston Housing Authority and CenterPoint Energy Providing Energy Efficient Upgrades to 100 Families
Houston, TX, December 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- This holiday season, Houston Housing Authority (HHA) and CenterPoint Energy are bringing energy efficient upgrades to 100 of HHA’s low-income residents by replacing existing equipment in each unit with state of the art energy efficient heating and air conditioning systems.
The efficient upgrades are part of CenterPoint Energy’s Agencies in Action program, which provides financial incentives to a variety of local government and nonprofit community agencies for installing energy efficient improvements in the homes of income-eligible customers in CenterPoint Energy’s electric distribution area.
“Over the lifetime of the improvements, we expect these residents to save more than $500,000 collectively on their utility bills,” said Jarrett Simon, energy efficiency program implementation manager for CenterPoint Energy. “The program is really a win-win. While the customer gains energy savings, CenterPoint Energy will benefit from reduced demand for electricity, especially during peak demand periods in the summer.”
“HHA is appreciative to CenterPoint Energy for providing our residents with upgraded heating and air conditioning systems,” said Tory Gunsolley, HHA President and CEO. “The Housing Authority is committed to helping our residents reduce their utility costs by providing them with useful energy saving tips and online resources. We are very pleased that the new heating and cooling systems provided by CenterPoint Energy will help our residents save energy and money.”
Since the Agencies in Action program’s inception in 2007, CenterPoint Energy has installed energy efficiency upgrades in the homes of more than 3,000 seniors and lower-income customers.
