NCDOT Announces Upcoming Traffic Shift On U.S. 1/64 In Cary
The N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will temporarily shift traffic on northbound U.S. 1/64 on Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. on the northbound Cary Parkway entrance ramp onto U.S. 1/64 to the new outside lanes

The N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will temporarily shift traffic on northbound U.S. 1/64 on Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. on the northbound Cary Parkway entrance ramp onto U.S. 1/64 to the new outside lanes. Due to this shift motorists will merge onto U.S. 1/64 at a point farther north than the previous traffic pattern. This new pattern will affect northbound motorists entering from Cary Parkway and will allow for work to be completed on the inside lanes. This pattern is estimated to be in place through the end of December.
The U.S. 1/64 widening project is a $58 million project to improve U.S. 1/64 from south of the I-40 interchange to the U.S. 64/Tryon Road interchange in Cary. The project is anticipated to be complete in late 2006.
The NCDOT reminds motorists to stay alert in the U.S. 1/64 work zone, obey the posted speed limit of 55 mph, be aware of construction workers and watch signs for construction information. The fine for speeding in the work zone is $250 and three driver license points.
