Amazing Retreats Announces Development Plans for Stanbrook Abbey
Former Monastery in Worcestershire is to be transformed into one of the UK’s premier weddings and events venues.
Stokenchurch, United Kingdom, December 14, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Amazing Retreats (www.amazingretreats.com), a collection of iconic and spectacular properties has revealed their development plans for Stanbrook Abbey, a former monastery located in Callow End, Worcestershire. Following approval of phase one planning applications, the magnificent property will be beautifully restored and transformed into a premier weddings and events venue following a multi-million pound investment from owner Mike Clare.
Previously home to a community of Benedictine nuns since 1835, Stanbrook Abbey is largely unseen to the general public and is currently undergoing extensive renovations, phase one of which will be completed in spring 2012.
The developments include the renovation and restoration of the ground floor of the building including the Pugin Chapel, refectory and kitchens. The front entrance will be reconfigured and parts of the grounds will be restored to their beautiful former glory. Once completed, the venue will be available for weddings, banqueting and events and will comfortably seat up to 80 people.
Phase two of developments will be completed by the end of 2012 subject to planning permission. The proposed plans include new stairs and lifts and the former Nun’s bedrooms will be converted into 50 luxuriously appointed bedroom suites. Plans for the second phase of developments will be submitted in February 2012.
The final phase of works and the completion of Stanbrook Abbey is scheduled to be completed in late 2013, subject to planning approvals. Proposed plans include the refurbishment of Stanbrook Hall and the old library. Remaining outbuildings will be converted into a spa and swimming pool complex with leisure facilities.
