EMCO Software Introduces a New Freeware Tool for Auditing Installed Software in Microsoft Networks
The brand-new freeware utility from EMCO helps network administrators to scan Windows computers in a local network and collect information about installed programs and updates into a centralized database.
Reykjavik, Iceland, December 14, 2011 --(PR.com)-- EMCO Software, a provider of software solutions for computer network management, announced the release of a new EMCO Network Software Scanner freeware tool for Windows. This tool is designed to help network administrators and IT professionals to audit software installed on Windows computers in their organizations. It allows extracting software inventory information from all remote PCs connected to a local network into a centralized software inventory database. Using Network Software Scanner, the IT staff can check the list of installed programs and updates on every PC and export the required inventory data to a file.
"Network Software Scanner is designed to work in networks of various types and collect software inventory information from PCs located in Windows domains and workgroups. It doesn't require network administrators to install any client modules on remote computers or configure them in any special way. Network Software Scanner only requires that the person who performs a software audit should have an administrative access to the network PCs, which is a typical requirement for any kind of administrative utilities. This fact simplifies the software audit process significantly, and network administrators can have audit results almost immediately without having to spend hours on the software or network configuration," Thorarinn Oskarsson, CEO at EMCO Software, said.
This software audit tool can be used not only to extract software inventory information from network PCs, but also to track software changes. Every time lists of installed applications and updates are extracted from network PCs, they are stored in a database and can be compared with the results of previous software inventory scans to detect applications and updates that were installed and uninstalled in the meantime. Network Software Scanner can display lists of changes for every PC and export them to a file in the CSV format.
"It is worth mentioning that Network Software Scanner is a freeware tool that doesn't have any limitations on the number of PCs that can be scanned or other kinds of typical freeware limitations. The tool is optimized to work with a good performance in large networks and can be used to audit networks that include thousands of computers," Emil Thor Jonsson, CTO at EMCO Software, said.
Availability
EMCO Network Software Scanner is available as a fully-functional freeware. It can run under Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2000 both x86 and x64 platforms.
