Money Pit Media Secures Solid Broadcast & Online Growth in 2011

Large audience enhances ROI for sponsors and media partners

New York, NY, December 15, 2011 --(PR.com)-- As Americans’ interest and investment in home improvement has grown in 2011, so has the reach of Money Pit Media, producer of the nationally syndicated home improvement radio show The Money Pit. A leading national home improvement media brand, Money Pit Media has kept pace with the home improvement market’s upward trend through effective delivery of consumer audiences via broadcast media, online content and strategic partnerships.

Every Money Pit Media asset saw major gains in 2011, led by huge increases in its radio and online following. On the radio side, the nationally syndicated weekend program added 35 more stations in 2011, including top markets like Washington DC, Seattle and Orlando, and is rapidly approaching the 300-affiliate mark. The Money Pit Home Improvement Minute weekday short-form feature added its share of new affiliates as well, including WCBS NewsRadio 880 in New York City. Money Pit programming is heard in all 50 states and on four channels on XM Satellite Radio.

“The Money Pit Home Improvement Minute is a great programming match for WCBS NewsRadio 880, especially in the current economic climate where we are all trying to find ways to save money and spend what we have in a smarter way,” said Tim Scheld, WCBS Director of News and Programming.

2011 was also a major growth year for the MoneyPit.com website and online community. The website’s traffic increased 40% year-to-year, while tens of thousands of new followers were added via Facebook and Twitter.

Money Pit sponsors seeking a multi-platform approach to reaching targeted audiences continue to benefit from customized partnerships and the credibility of the show and its hosts, Tom Kraeutler and Leslie Segrete. Of particular interest this year was Money Pit Media’s partnership with the EPA’s WaterSense Program, designed to educate consumers about ways to conserve water in their homes.

“Americans have a passion for improving their homes while making them more efficient, and WaterSense awareness is critical to their plans,” said Money Pit Media President Tom Kraeutler. “Having worked with the EPA in the past to help promote the Energy Star Program, we’re excited to continue educating consumers about important environmental issues and practices.”

Adds USEPA WaterSense Program Administrator Stephanie Thorton, “We are thrilled that the Money Pit is working with WaterSense partners to promote the importance of water efficiency to homeowners across the country.”

Another successful initiative in 2011 was a campaign developed with Arrow Fastener, promoting the use of their products in home design. The multi-platform sponsorship included a social networking element tied into a contest that generated over 37,000 new “Likes” for Arrow within a couple of months. “We were very excited by this opportunity to partner with such great personalities as Tom and Leslie,” said Bill Sokol, VP Marketing for Arrow Fastener. “They brought a lot of credibility and visibility to the Arrow message during Arrow’s prime selling season.”

“Independent research has shown that The Money Pit’s audience is buying home improvement products four times as frequently as the average consumer, and they’re more than twice as likely to take on a project themselves,” said Kraeutler. “That’s a very valuable demographic for manufacturers and service providers in this category.”

Money Pit Media continued to develop important content partnerships in 2011, including that with home improvement megabrand This Old House, which was renewed for a third year and incorporates the show’s talent into regular features on The Money Pit home improvement radio show. The company also extended its online partnerships with the addition of Tom and Leslie as featured panelists for the exciting new home improvement community at HomeTalk.com.
