Free Haricuts for Cancer Patients
Desdimi Gallery Salon's slogan of Look Your Best While Supporting the Arts has taken it even a step further; until further notice, Desdimi Gallery Salon will offer free haircuts to anyone currently battling cancer and going through treatments.
Chicago, IL, December 15, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Desdimi is a gallery in the heart of Chicago's River North Gallery district dedicated to promoting local emerging artists of all disciplines, styles and mediums of visual media. In order to maintain their mission, they also function as a full service boutique hair studio and barber shop. However, now they have taken their giving back to another level and are offering free haircuts to any cancer patients currently battling cancer.
"After watching a friend with cancer fight for his life while taking care of his mother who was dying of cancer, it's the least we can do," said Danka, owner, stylist and visionary behind this unique gallery and salon. "I had four clients today tell me they found out a friend, a friend's friend or parent had been diagnosed with cancer. And that's just today!"
Desdimi will cut, style or buzz anyone diagnosed and battling cancer during their regular business hours. Danka's philosophy is that sometimes just showing someone you care is enough to help make them feel better.
Originally from the former Yugoslavia, Danka earned a degree in Philosophy from DePaul University while studying and working with master stylists in the United States and Europe. According to Danka, her gallery and salon has taken special care to make the entire experience stimulating for its clientele. “We want to create an experience that will turn heads and spread awareness in more ways than one.”
