FieldTurf Launches Innovative New DoublePlay Baseball Systems
World leader in baseball turf innovation launches new DoublePlay baseball systems aimed at providing clients with the ability to tune the pace of their playing surface.
Montreal, Canada, December 15, 2011 --(PR.com)-- FieldTurf has announced the launch of its new and innovative FieldTurf DoublePlay baseball systems signifying the greatest technological advancement to baseball surfacing in decades. FieldTurf’s new baseball product innovations are geared towards providing the most grass-like baseball-specific systems in the world today and ensuring that the final product and pace of play is tailored to the preference of their clients.
The main features of FieldTurf’s new DoublePlay baseball systems include innovative tuning of the ground ball speed on the field through the use of specific infill materials, different fiber blade heights for superior natural grass playability, and the use of exclusive colored infill materials to match the color of a natural field and the turf installed.
“The FieldTurf DoublePlay baseball systems are a result of listening to our clients’ specific performance needs with regards to baseball applications,” said FieldTurf President Eric Daliere. “We spoke to many coaches about what matters most to them in a synthetic baseball field and our DoublePlay systems are a result of ensuring we continue to deliver the very best sport-specific technology to our clients.”
FieldTurf’s new DoublePlay baseball systems were also developed in conjunction with Penn State University’s Sports Surface Research Center. Exhaustive baseball-specific testing was done on over 15 different surfaces in order to determine which surface(s) provide for the best combination of fast and consistent ball pace along with player safety. Baseball ball pace is measured using the PennBounce apparatus, designed by Penn State University, in order to accurately generate a field's Coefficient of Restitution (COR) value. The higher the COR value, the faster the surface. As a result of this research, FieldTurf now has the ability to offer its clients a “tuned” baseball field, with Fast, Medium, or Slow Ball Pace.
Over 40 NCAA D-1 baseball programs have chosen FieldTurf – including but not limited to – University of Texas, Oregon State University, University of Oregon, Rutgers University, Washington State University, University of Washington, University of Louisville, University of Illinois, University of Cincinnati, Texas Tech University, Indiana State University, Kent State University, Cornell University, and Columbia University.
