DSA Promotes VP to Lead Intel, Civil and National Security Programs
Fairfax, VA, May 04, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Frances R. Pierce, President and CEO, Data Systems Analysts, Inc (DSA), announced that Vice President Charles Cooks has been promoted to lead the company’s Intel, Civil and National Security programs.
In this new role, Cooks will continue managing the company’s support to the sixteen member U.S. Intelligence Community, while taking on the added responsibility for managing and overseeing IT services and information assurance support for U.S. Civil Agencies. As part of his new responsibilities, Cooks will manage the DSA Network & Information Assurance (NIA) Practice, and direct corporate business initiatives associated with assisting federal customers and their affiliates in achieving compliance with Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) regulatory requirements.
Cooks joined DSA in 1995 as a Lead Engineer and was promoted to Program Manager and Business Unit Director in 1997. After a short time away from the company, Cooks returned in 2002 and shortly thereafter was promoted to Vice President in charge of DSA’s Intelligence Community and Homeland Security operations. With this recent promotion and the added responsibilities for managing DSA’s Civil programs, Cooks is now responsible for strategic planning and service delivery for Intelligence Community and Civil Agency customers.
“I am looking forward to continuing DSA’s growth in the Intel, Civil and National Security communities,” says Cooks. “The services we provide to customers within these communities are vital to our national security. We will work hard to partner with and further strengthen our support to organizations within these communities”.
Prior to joining DSA, Cooks served as project manager and systems engineer for several large acquisition programs. He has supported the deployment of the Reserve Component Automation System (RCAS), Defense Switch Network Upgrade (Japan), and the Defense Message System, and was instrumental in obtaining DoD Major Automated Information System Review Council (MAISARC) approval for these programs. He is a retired U.S. Army Communications and Electronics Officer with almost thirty years’ leadership and management experience.
Cooks has a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Jackson State University and a graduate Certificate in Telecommunications Operations & Acquisition Management from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology. He also holds a Diploma in U.S. Military Operations and Command & Control Planning from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and a Skill Certification in Command & Control Planning from the National Defense University.
