AlphaDogs Helps Save the Earth's Water Supply
90 CGI shots were color corrected and inserted seamlessly into a film that was only 17 minutes in length
Burbank, CA, December 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Burbank based AlphaDogs Post Production has completed work on the American Film Institute thesis film Europa. The film is a sci-fi thriller set in a future where the earth is suffering a global water crisis.
Editor and Post Production Supervisor Gregory Goldman called upon the expertise of owner and founder at AlphaDogs, Terence Curren to complete color correction for the film. An editor and colorist by trade, Curren was able to complete work in the Avid Symphony while simultaneously inserting and seamlessly matching a total of 90 CGI shots throughout a film that was only 17 minutes in length. Curren’s extensive knowledge of the Avid Symphony allowed workflows to move between AFI, AlphaDogs and Goldman’s Media Composer system at home. "When Director David Gidali first showed me his project, I thought that he was crazy for biting off such a big chunk with an AFI student film," said Curren. "He had so many CGI shots that he was creating on his own, along with a very futuristic set requirement. But amazingly, he has pulled it off. The final film is far greater than its budget could ever promise."
Title consolidation, credits, dubs and DVD design were also done at the AlphaDogs facility. Goldman comments, “I was delighted with the final delivery of the project and would use AlphaDogs again in a second. The integrated workflow AlphaDogs offered spared me numerous headaches and yielded high-quality results,” Gidali added. “I would use AlphaDogs again mainly due to the expertise of Terence Curren. Experienced, but modest, he kept true to our vision while displaying a high level of professionalism. Our project was handled with care and precision all the way through.”
Europa takes place in the futuristic world of 2079. Worldwide drought and dozens of nuclear plant meltdowns have diminished the earth’s water supply by 88 percent. The only hope for survival is to send war criminal Grant Clarke to Jupiter’s distant moon, Europa. Clarke must obtain a sulfur-based bacteria and get it back to earth in time to decontaminate the nuclear waste and save the world’s water supply.
Europa was Directed by David Gidali and produced by Avi Quijada for the American Film Institute. To learn more or make a non-profit donation please visit http://www.europamovie.com/
