The Rapid Transit System Improves Ergonomics for Drivers
Atlas Ergonomics, the leading provider of ergonomic and wellness services to the trucking industry, announced an agreement with The Rapid, the transit system in metro Grand Rapids. Atlas will implement its leading-edge technology to help reduce discomfort and injury risk among The Rapid’s 190 drivers.
Grand Haven, MI, May 05, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Atlas’ ergonomic and wellness services have been utilized by several nationwide transportation firms, with significant results. For example, in one industry leading fleet, the percentage of drivers reporting high levels of discomfort dropped by 46% after the Atlas program was implemented. The drop in reported discomforted led to a significant reduction in lost-time injuries and workers’ compensation costs.
“It is a natural extension of our experience to work with metropolitan transit authorities,” said Jim Landsman, president, Atlas Ergonomics. “Our technology helps minimize the negative effects of prolonged sitting and road vibration on drivers, helping them hurt less both at work and at home,” Landsman added. “Since our company is based in West Michigan, we were quite pleased to find that our local transit authority shares our same level of concern for employee health and wellness.”
“Our people are the core of our organization,” stated The Rapid CEO, Peter Varga. “Investing in ways to keeping them safe is essential as we strive to serve the greater Grand Rapids community. Atlas’ approach towards drivers is uniquely simple, measurable, and highly effective. We look forward to seeing the results.”
Implementation of Atlas program at The Rapid will occur throughout 2007.
