A Multi-Cultural Salon with a Meaning
The Aldine neighborhood gets a breath of new life through new salon opening in the community.
Houston, TX, December 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- S.W.E.E.T.S Salon, an affordable luxury multi-cultural salon, celebrated its grand opening Saturday, December 3, 2011. This salon is a full service salon and North Houston’s home of the $50 extension (weave) service. As families continue to feel the pinch of a lagging economy this salon could not have come at a better time. S.W.E.E.T.S Salon is creating a new lane where luxury and affordability marry perfectly without sacrificing quality. With services starting at $15 this salon is sure to make beauty and confidence attainable for everyone. Owners Sherika Merriwether and Kandice Ross looked all over North Houston for a place that needed S.W.E.E.T.S Salon. They wanted to give a community access to beauty services that they wouldn’t traditionally have access to. “We offer a salon filled with ambiance and pizzazz, we make it our business to ensure every client leaves our doors feeling like the VIP she is,” says co-owner Kandice Ross.
S.W.E.E.T.S Salon not only has a catchy name, but it has a name with meaning. S.W.E.E.T.S was adopted in honor of the passing of Sherika’s eldest sister, Shamaya L. Merriwether, founder of the non-profit organization S.W.E.E.Ts Inc. S.W.E.E.T.S is an acronym for Sophisticated Women Educating and Empowering Teens. “We believe that feeling confident about one’s physical appearance will also help women be empowered to succeed in every facet of their lives,” says co-owner Sherika Merriwether. The organization was originally founded for teen girls in Birmingham, Alabama and was geared towards developing young ladies into women of integrity. Although, Merriwether and Ross have presented the vision in the form of a salon, the mission is still the same. They will empower women by making them feel better about themselves. This salon is truly dedicated to the community with discounts for students and pick up locations for those without transportation.
