Fifth Annual "Run For Young" to be Held on Saturday, Jan. 7
5K Race to Raise Awareness of Youth Drinking and Driving, Will Benefit Local High Schools.
Raleigh, NC, December 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Christ Episcopal Church has announced that the fifth annual “Run for Young” event will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 at 10 a.m. The 5K will begin at Christ Episcopal Church, located at 120 E. Edenton St. This race was created after 18-year-old parish member Sadiki Young died in a drunk driving accident in which he was a passenger in January 2007. “Run for Young” is designed to raise community awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving. All proceeds from the race raise awareness for safe driving methods for teens at participating high schools and will support the Christ Church Youth Ministry Endowment.
This year’s race will feature live music along the race course. To see the list of bands providing music along the course, or if your band is interested in participating, visit http://runforyoung.org/live-music-during-the-run.html.
“We invite the entire Wake County community to come together to run or walk this year’s race to honor the memory of all youth whose lives are cut short by automobile accidents,” said former Raleigh City Councilor Philip Isley, one of Sadiki’s Sunday school teachers. “By honoring the memory of all these young people, we hope to raise awareness of how it important it is to make responsible decisions every day.”
