Friends of Felines Wins Grand Prize in Final Round of 2011 Shelter+ Challenge
In the fourth and final round of voting of The Animal Rescue Site’s $300,000 2011 Shelter+ Challenge with Petfinder.com, Friends of Felines in Defiance, OH, won the $5,000 Grand Prize. Since the Challenges began in 2008, more than 250 animal rescue groups in North America have received $910,000 in grants funded by GreaterGood Network's The Animal Rescue Site.
Seattle, WA, December 29, 2011 --(PR.com)-- In the fourth and final round of voting of The Animal Rescue Site’s $300,000 2011 Shelter+ Challenge with Petfinder.com, Friends of Felines in Defiance, OH, won the $5,000 Grand Prize. The Canadian group Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue won $2,000 for their Heartwarming Story about a stray “Kenny Pawgers.”
With these awards, $300,000 in grants has been distributed to Challenge winners in 2011. Since the Challenges began in 2008, more than 250 animal rescue groups in North America have received $910,000 in grants funded by GreaterGood Network's The Animal Rescue Site.
The Animal Rescue Site CEO Tim Kunin also announced today that the Challenge will continue in 2012, with another $300,000 planned to be given away in four voting rounds throughout the year.
For the first round of voting in 2012, starting January 9, the popular “Dark Horse” category returns with six grants guaranteed for groups who have never won before. Sixty-four other prizes will be given away in the first round of 2012 to regional winners, weekly winners, and a Grand Prize winner.
