Toys for Tots Proves to be Huge Success at Cumberland Toyota
With the holiday season coming to a close this week, Cumberland Toyota is wrapping up its Toys for Tots collection program for the year.
Cookeville, TN, December 30, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Last Sunday, Christmas came and went and for some Christmas was a little brighter thanks to Cumberland Toyota. The Cookeville-based Toyota dealer was a major collection point in the area for the local Toys for Tots program and just last week the dealership wrapped up its collection season with a bang.
The dealership has been collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots program for the last month or so. As a special incentive to get Cookeville residents to donate toys, Cumberland Toyota was offering free oil changes with every donation valued at more than $10.
The Toys for Tots collection was huge success this year. The Toyota dealership was able to fill the entire bed of a 2012 Toyota Tundra with tons of toys spilling off on to the floor. The initial goal for the dealership was to collect enough toys to fill the truck, which is no small task. Expectations were greatly exceeded, thanks mostly to the great residents of Cookeville, who took the time to donate their new, unwrapped toys.
Toys for Tots has been a holiday staple for decades now. The program, which was started by a Marine Corp Major, collects new, unwrapped toys for needy families. They take those toys and give them out to the children of those struggling families in an effort to make their holiday season a little brighter.
