Poker Legend Moneymaker & Cleveland Radio Icon Rizzo Play in Presque Isle Downs and Casino’s 15K Tourney
Presque Isle Downs and Casino’s Poker Ambassador Chris Moneymaker and WKNR AM 850 Radio Host Tony Rizzo played in the casino’s $15,750 Multi-Table Tournament Main Event on Wednesday, December 14th.
Erie, PA, December 31, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Presque Isle Downs and Casino’s Poker Ambassador Chris Moneymaker and WKNR AM 850 Radio Host Tony Rizzo played in the casino’s $15,750 Multi-Table Tournament Main Event on Wednesday, December 14th. Moneymaker made a good charge during the tournament but ended up as the tenth man and placed one spot out of the money. “I was on the bubble,” said Moneymaker. “You need to make hands late in a tournament but today was not my day. That's tournament poker. It was a great event and I am proud to be part of the Presque Isle Downs & Casino Poker community.”
The $15,750 Multi-Table event buy in was $200 ($175+$20+$5) and 90 people participated in the event.
“It was a huge success,” said Christine Stacy, Poker Room Manager at Presque Isle Downs and Casino. “The event sold out six hours prior to the tournament start.”
Tom Wilson from Ashtabula, OH, walked away from the multi table event as the winner with $4723 in his pocket. Jeremy Covel from Erie, PA., placed second and took home $2520.
Rizzo, the host of the popular Cleveland sports talk program "The Really Big Show," thoroughly enjoyed his time at the casino’s poker room and dedicated some radio airtime to relate his experience the following morning.
“I haven’t played tournament poker in a while. It’s so fun. The rush is so cool,” said Rizzo during his ESPN Cleveland broadcast.
Presque Isle Downs and Casino also hosted a dinner at its award-winning restaurant and lounge, Sensory 3, for its most loyal poker players the night of the cash game. It was an opportunity for them to spend some quality time with Moneymaker and talk about poker.
“We wanted to reward some of our most loyal players. So we tracked their playing time from November 11th to December 14th and whoever played poker the most was invited to the dinner,” said Stacey. In total nine people were selected to have a meal with Moneymaker. Four of the players with the most playing time were chosen and five additional Presque Isle Downs and Casino poker players were chosen at random.
Moneymaker will attend several tournaments and special engagements through-out 2012.
“We are proud to have Chris Moneymaker as our Poker Ambassador and we look forward to having him back throughout the next year,” said Fred Buro, Presque Isle Downs and Casino President and VP and Chief Marketing Officer of MTR Gaming Group Inc.
