Small Business Gives to Local Families in Need

Houston, TX, December 31, 2011 --(PR.com)-- During the weeks leading up to the Christmas holiday Petro-Valve, Inc. and Harris County Precinct 1 teamed up to provide children in the surrounding area (11248 East Hardy St, Houston, TX 77093) a special Christmas surprise. 80 bicycles in a variety of sizes were being distributed to families in need on Friday, December 23, 2011.

The employees at Petro-Valve have been long time supporters of the Harris County Precinct 1 toy drive. In 2010, Petro-Valve celebrated its 30th year in business; in celebration the employees combined their efforts to raise money for a larger donation, bicycles. After seeing the excitement and dedication from the Petro-Valve employees, the owners (Marek and Sherry Menger) were moved to match the donation, making a total of 50 bicycles to families in need. “Cruise for Smiles is an incredible program that allows us to give back to the surrounding community where we do business every day,” says Marek Menger. The company as a whole decided to make the bicycle drive an annual event, setting a goal of 60 bicycles for 2011, with overwhelming generosity the team donated 80 bicycles this year.

Harris County Precinct 1 sponsors the toy drive every year, donating their time and resources to pick up and distribute all the donated gifts. Precinct one picked up Petro-Valve’s donation on Wednesday, December 21, 201 and thanked “Petro-Valve for continuing to support the cause of brightening the lives of so many kids in our Pct. 1,” says Sgt Shone Sigue. Petro-Valve employees were invited, on Friday, December 23, 2011, to deliver the bicycles throughout the community and see how their donations make an impact.
