Linuxjunkies Foundation Introduces FLOSSit.org, a Community-Based News Syndication Service with an Emphasis on FLOSS Technology and Advocacy

FLOSSit.org is a a community-based News Syndication service with an emphasis on Free Libre Open Source - FLOSS technology and advocacy. News stories and websites are submitted by the users, and then promoted to the front page through a user-based ranking system.

Kolkata, India, May 07, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Linuxjunkies Foundation has recently launched FLOSSit.org, an online news syndication and publishing portal on Free Libre Open Source ( FLOSS ) news and articles . It is a community website with a different approach. Here at FLOSSit.org, users can post links to FLOSS content on the web. Other users may then vote the posted links up or down, causing them to appear more or less prominently on the home page. Users who submit articles which are liked and subsequently voted up receive "karma", points which a user receives as a reward for submitting interesting articles. Every user can vote, bury (help remove spam), and comment on stories.

All content and access to the site is free, but registration is compulsory for certain elements, such as voting for stories, submitting stories and commenting on stories.

Linuxjunkies Foundation believes that it is a good effort towards a FLOSS dedicated news syndication or publishing portal where a user gets more importance with a form of non-hierarchical, democratic editorial control.
