She has worked with the victim assistance program of the Denver Police Department and HealthOne Alliance, through which she first learned about the needs of the homeless. Dr. Hackett was also the Associate Dean for Community Clinical Education for a medical school in Kansas City, Missouri, where she managed a nationwide staff of over 2,500 volunteers and developed curriculum for students at remote clinical sites across the country.
