Samurai Karate Studio Participates in Polar Bear Plunge for Charity

Students of Samurai Karate Studio, located in Richland Northeast Columbia, South Carolina, participated in the 7th annual Lake Carolina Polar Bear plunge to raise money for children's charities in the Midlands.

Columbia, SC, January 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Sensei Chris Feldt, owner and chief instructor for Samurai Karate Studio, located in Richland Northeast Columbia, South Carolina, announced several of his students participated in the 7th annual Lake Carolina Polar Bear plunge, a fun event to raise money for children's charities of the Midlands.

"These are some really brave students," commented Feldt, "While the temperature was a bit more mild this year, the water temperature was something like 48 degrees. Man that is cold!"

If you have never jumped into cold water before, it literally feels like it takes your breath away and your arms and legs get very tingly, almost like someone is sticking pins or needles into them. If you stay in the water long enough, your body gets numb and eventually hypothermia sets in.

"This is a wonderful event, that is pretty exciting for the participants and it's all for a good cause, children's charities of the Midlands," stated Feldt. "I am so proud of my students who participated in this!"

Samurai Karate Studio teaches a traditional style of karate to children and adults, beginning at ages 4 and up. Our curriculum includes fitness, self defense, anger management, peace education through acts of kindness, environmental self defense, and project based leadership through community service projects like the one above.
