Eva Longoria Desperate for Eileen Shields Footwear
Eva Longoria wears Eileen Shields shoes on two episodes of Desperate Housewives during the month of April 2007. One of the styles was custom made for Eva at her request.
Brooklyn, NY, May 09, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Born in New York in 1970, Eileen grew up in Dublin, Ireland graduating from the National College of Art and Design. She has been living and working in the New York since 1988. For over a decade she designed footwear for Donna Karan, launching and building the DKNY footwear line, including Men’s and Women’s.
The Eileen Shields label was launched in February of 2004 and simultaneously the designer opened her own flagship store and gallery, “5 Scarlet Row” in the Old City district of Dublin. The store (which shares its name with its locale) was created in collaboration with renowned curator/gallerist Vaari Claffey and is the flagship store to showcase the entire Eileen Shields collection. Shields’ collections sell alongside clothes and accessories exclusive to Ireland by other prominent international designers including Eley Kishimoto, Sharon Wauchob, Collection Privée, Zero Maria Cornejo, VPL (Visible Panty Line), Irish designer Helen James and UNIS, the sexy unisex clothing line. The store is an event-driven space; with invitation only shopping evenings with the designers and launch parties for the in-store “Gallery for One” art exhibitions.
This is a very exciting time for Eileen. The 'Bette' shoes from Eileen's Fall 2007 collection were featured on Eva Longoria in episode #317 of Desperate Housewives, which aired April 8, 2007. In the scene, Eva stripped down to her underwear and the 'Bette' shoes, a luscious pair of red haircalf 4" nail-heel peep-toe stilettos, which feature an asymmetric oversized half bow that wraps around the instep. They retail for $495/€402 and will be available on the Eileen Shields website and throughout Europe and the US beginning in August 2007.
On April 29, 2007, Eva wore another pair of Eileen’s shoes, only this time they were custom made for her character on the show, Gabrielle Solis. In the scene, 'Gabby' celebrated her engagement to 'Victor' at Scavo's Pizzeria while wearing her scrumptious 4.5" purple suede peep-toe ‘Eva’ stilettos, which were named in her honor. The shoes even got their very own close-up, a rarity for footwear on the show! Eileen worked directly with the costume department of the hit ABC show to custom make these shoes for Eva. They turned out so great that Eileen included them in her Fall 2007 collection and they have since become a top-seller in the collection. They retail for $450/€432 and will be available on the Eileen Shields website and throughout Europe and the US beginning in August 2007.
Eileen Shields is now a global enterprise, the label is sold at over 40 high-end boutiques and department stores across the US, Europe, and Asia.
