EARS XXI, NMSU-Grants, Cibola Arts Council Announce Digital Amnesty at PAH-Fest 2007
Los Angeles, CA, May 09, 2007 --(PR.com)-- EARS XXI Studio, NMSU-Grants, and the Cibola Arts Council are proud to announce the Digital Amnesty contest, part of PAH-FEST 2007, a four day media extravaganza taking place in Grants, New Mexico.
PAH-FEST’s Digital Amnesty contest allows digital filmmakers to give their work another shot. Judges are looking for media that speaks from the heart to the heart, fostering good will and elevating the human spirit while celebrating connectivity and community empowerment.
PAH-FEST, which stands for “Project Accessible Hollywood Festival,” is a new kind of digital media festival that celebrates the stories and voices of everyday people. PAH-Fest invites people from all walks of life to tell their digital stories using today’s latest technology and prosumer equipment. PAH-FEST 2007 will feature alternative and grass-roots story-telling through the use of today’s latest technology, celebrating the stories and voices of everyday people.
“One of the things that bothers me about modern society is the way we just throw things away and I'm not talking about basic trash...I'm talking about tools, the products (including art and craft) made by these tools, and, worst of all, the people who used the tools to make the products,” said Christopher Coppola, DigiVangelist and President of EARS XXI Studio. “With Digital Amnesty, I want people to feel that their digital work, whether it was made with a Fisher Price toy video camera or Canon XL1 or a Panasonic Vericam, has another chance to be seen and celebrated for what it is.”
Each year during PAH-FEST, EARS XXI Studios honors an individual of distinctive vision. Dubbed “Keeping the Torch Lit,” this award honors someone who has created a compelling and significant body of work that exemplifies both a spirit of strong individuality and a commitment to the greater human spirit. Festivities will include nightly screenings of the honoree’s work followed by a themed party, and awards ceremony. This year’s honoree will be David Carradine. Former recipients include Tom Waits and George Kuchar.
In 2006, EARS XXI Studio and the Cibola Arts Council held the first annual PAH-Fest in Grants, New Mexico, the birthplace and capitol of PAH-Fest. Since then, Old Man PAH has traveled to Germany, and plans to host PAH-Fests all over the USA and the world.
Digital Amnesty Submissions
Digital filmmakers may submit their work by visiting Without A Box (http://www.withoutabox.com), the online film festival submission and global community website. Submissions must be less than seven minutes in length, made digitally, and spread the filmmaker’s own unique message of good will. The cost of submission, $7.77, helps to pay for offsetting the cost of the PAH Online Theatre, an interactive showcase and archive of PAH-FEST shorts located at www.earsxximedia.com. PAH-FEST Submission fees will also be used for non-profit digital empowerment and global creativity causes. The winner will receive a $777 cash prize awarded with a special EARSXXI Digital Amnesty trophy.

• Mobiflicks Winner: Cash award for the best project created with prosumer technology during the 3 day competition from June 6-9.
• YourTech Portrait Contest: Cash award for the best self-portrait or portrait of another human being created with low end consumer technology created from June 6-9.
• Cell Phone Art Contest: Cash award for the best artwork made with mobile phone technology created from June 6-9.
• Treasure Hunt: On June 9 and 10, join the Cibola Arts Council Gallery tour and use mobile technology to solve clues and win a prize at each gallery.
