Dr. Energy Saver Columbia has provided a monetary donation to the local United Way, American Red Cross and Susan G. Komen for the Cure according to the public's choice.
Camden, SC, January 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- On January 9, 2012 Owner William Cantey of Dr. Energy Saver® Columbia, hand-delivered donations to three chosen charities according to the results of the franchisee's holiday campaign.
From December 1 to 25, the franchisee's "Energy Elves" program divided $10,000 among three local branches of: the United Way, American Red Cross and Komen for the Cure. Each charity was given the task to retrieve as many votes using the Dr. Energy Saver voting system. Only one vote per day, per email address was allowed. The amount donated was dependent upon the voting results.
"They are all great organizations to work with and we appreciate all they do for the community," said William Cantey, owner of Dr. Energy Saver Columbia. "My wife, Katie, and I are excited to give back to such great organizations!"
After receiving more than 1,000 of the votes, the United Way of Kershaw County has been given $7,000; the American Red Cross, $2,000; and the SC Mountains to Midlands Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, $1,000.
After receiving word about receiving the $7,000 donation, the president of the United Way of Kershaw County applauded the community and Dr. Energy Saver.
"Dr. Energy Saver certainly met our 2012 campaign theme, 'Be A Hero, Change a Life!' Their corporate contribution of $7,000 to the United Way of Kershaw County is a result of our community coming together to vote for our United Way," said United Way of Kershaw County President Donny Supplee. "When local businesses energize our campaign, we all win. We would like to give credit to everyone that cast their vote for us and encourage them to support this local business as they have supported us!"
Runner up, American Red Cross also expressed thanks and appreciation to the community and franchisee.
"We are thrilled to have come in second place and receive $2,000 from the Dr. Energy Charity Race," said Scott R. Salemme, Regional Chief Executive Officer of American Red Cross, Columbia Region. "It is wonderful to see the community come together through a friendly competition to support three very important non-profit organizations. These funds will support our disaster relief program and will help us prepare for and respond to disasters that occur 365 days a year."
