Indigo Empyrean - First Contact Will Not Come from the Stars
Indie Film Writer/Director Pens a Novel About a Teen’s Quest to Save an Advanced Underwater Race from Extinction
Hanalei, HI, January 10, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Are homo sapiens the only species on earth who commune with a higher power? Is it possible for another intelligent, rationalizing species to exist on our planet without our knowledge, and if so where could they possibly reside?
Not only are these questions addressed in D.F. Marsh’s new novel Indigo Empyrean the religious implications provide both the antagonists and protagonists in this thrilling deep-sea adventure aimed at the YA marketplace, with a broad appeal for all fiction readers.
A flash storm catches fourteen-year old Ashton and his sister Autumn off guard while rowing off the rugged Oregon coast. The two terrified youngsters are drawn into a whirlpool, which seems certain to pull them to their deaths. But suddenly Ashton sees a bright light and in the blink of an eye he and his sister are back on the beach, shaken, confused, but very much alive. Was it actually a bioluminescent hand he saw under the boat, pushing them to safety? He begins to hear whispers calling his name, and is convinced he has been saved by a higher power, of this or another world.
British born author D.F. Marsh, an independent filmmaker, found inspiration in his story after experiencing a very vivid - and prophetic - dream as a teen. “The dream just stayed with me. After my daughter was born it became a favorite bedtime tale for her, embellished of course,” says Marsh.
Although categorized as YA/Fantasy Fiction, Indigo Empyrean, which means blue heaven, takes place in a contemporary setting. The fantasy element is painted in a way that begs the question: how can we disclaim its plausibility? The notion of the existence of intelligent life deep below the sea is a tradition long held by many of the world’s cultures.
In a world that could be described as Jules Verne meets Ursula K. Guin, D. F. Marsh has created a novel for a broad range of readers:
- Young adults will find it easy to identify with Ashton, who is coming to grips with losing his mother and feels alone and isolated in the world.
- Fantasy and Sci-Fi fans will yearn to learn more about the subterranean species he discovers–the Iquana–which utilize uncanny telepathic abilities.
- More thoughtful readers will enjoy the novel’s environmental themes, played out in the Iquanas’ struggle to survive in the earth’s polluted oceans.
Indigo Empyrean is available January 2012 as an Amazon Kindle e-publication for $8.99. ASIN: B006V3WMKQ
