RichmondBUILD Receives $20K in New Equipment from Abatix Corp. at the Request of ehs International, Inc. to Support Green Jobs Training for Richmond Residents
Lake Forest, CA, January 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Abatix provides new equipment and supplies valued over $20,000 to support the City of Richmond’s award-winning green jobs training program. Abatix is a full service distributor of quality products to safety, construction, environmental, marine, remediation, healthcare and energy industries.

They have been providing OSHA compliance training and consulting services since 1998.
“We couldn’t respond fast enough when ehs International, Inc. our official safety training provider asked us to participate in the RichmondBUILD Program. As part of the Abatix company motto ‘Experience the Difference’, Abatix is honored to partner with ehs International, Inc. and the City of Richmond on the project. Lending a hand up as well as a hand out is an acknowledgement that our actions shape our reputation, our communities and ourselves,” said Sasha Bolderoff, Strategic Accounts Manager of Abatix Corp.
The new equipment and supplies will be used in RichmondBUILD’s Construction Skills and Environmental Remediation classes.
The Environmental Remediation classes are funded through a grant from EPA’s Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training program.
RichmondBUILD has received national recognition as a “best practice” Green-Collar job training program for the innovative work in preparing residents for careers in the clean and renewable technology industries. To date, RichmondBUILD has achieved an impressive 80% job placement rate for program graduates with many obtaining employment in the green jobs industry at an average starting wage of $18 an hour.
What: Students in the Environmental Remediation class will practice responding to different hazardous scenarios utilizing the new equipment including respirators, harnesses, fall protection equipment, a gas detection device, hard hats, personal protective equipment and more.
When: Friday, January 13, 2012 from 9:00 am to Noon
