York Maine Musician Releases Independent Rock Album and Music Video
York, ME, January 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- York native and musician Jon King recently released an independent Extended Play (EP) album and music video.
The album, consisting of four original tracks written by King, was produced by Strewnshank Productions in Boston, MA. King performs lead guitar, vocals and a piano track on one of the songs. The other musicians, three of them being Berkley graduates, are Boston and LA-based.
A music video for King’s song “Set Fire” was released recently on YouTube. The video was co-produced and directed by King and Sean Collins of Portsmouth, NH. “Within a day we had 1,000 views which is a great start. We will be shooting videos for the remaining songs on the EP,” King says. “My goal is to release 2-3 additional singles by mid-summer with accompanying music videos. Social media and video marketing is huge for me.”
King’s music is a blend of blues and rock, with emphasis on guitar. “I’ve long been influenced by musicians like Eric Clapton and Marvin Gaye,” King says, “and I admire new musicians like John Mayer and The Black Keys who stay true to an old school style. I aim to write songs that people can relate to emotionally by making an old school vibe current.”
King has been playing guitar seriously since the age of 13, and won best vocals in 2006 at the Maine State Rock-Off in Portland. King plans on pursuing music as long as possible. “I will be releasing more albums, music videos, and touring in the future,” King says.
An album release party is scheduled for Friday, January 27th at The Page in Portsmouth, NH. King’s tunes can be listened to and purchased at www.jonking.bandcamp.com or on iTunes. He tweets at @JonKingMusic and his music video can be found by searching YouTube for “Jon King Set Fire.”
