Accountants for Social Good (ASG) Vaults to the Ninth Spot in All-Time Lenders on Popular Microlending Site, Kiva

The microlending team, Accountants for Social Good, whose inception occurred less than nine months ago, currently sits at #9 in the all time list of total amount lent in the Business category of Kiva.

San Francisco, CA, January 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The upstart Kiva lending team, Accountants for Social Good (ASG), announced today that it has vaulted to the ninth spot of all-time lenders in the business category of the popular microlending website. Since its inception in May of 2011, the team has seen explosive growth both in the number of team members (80) and in the total amount of capital the team has lent to the developing world ($70,500). Further, ASG has already been profiled by two popular microlending magazines, and was interviewed for a keynote speaking engagement at the Blassys Microlending Conference in Greensboro in December.

"The main goal, regardless of how many members we accrue of amount of money we loan, is to educate the community about the power of microlending," said Chief Loan Analyst, Mindy Tran. "We believe that this generation of charitable giving will continue to gravitate towards microlending as opposed to traditional giving without accountability."

Since their formation in May, Accountants for Social Good has consistently ranked in the top five each month of lending teams in the Business category of Kiva, while lending to over 40 countries worldwide in 15 different industries. On December 22, ASG entered the "Top Ten" of all time lenders on in Kiva's Business category, accenting the fact that the team is quickly becoming a voice for people in the accounting industry and beyond. They climbed to the ninth spot only nineteen days later.

For 2012, the goals for Accountants for Social Good are lofty. They want to cross $100,000 in total loans by July and in effect double the number of current loans, from 2,500 to 5000 by the end of the year. "No matter what, we are simply happy that the word and knowledge about microlending is spreading," said Mindy. "Educating the accounting community, or anyone who is new to the power of micro loans for that matter, will always be our primary goal. If we can reach milestones within Kiva in the process, then that is a tip of the cap towards our great teammates and sense of community within the group."
