This will be the largest football medicine conference ever held, presenting the latest and greatest advances in sports science, with a particular focus on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of knee injuries.
London, United Kingdom, January 16, 2012 --(PR.com)-- World’s largest football medicine conference comes to London
Over the weekend of April 21st-22nd, Stamford Bridge will play host to the biggest football medicine conference in the world – the International Conference on Sports Rehabilitation and Traumatology. Experts all over the world will come together to present and discuss the latest advances in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of knee injuries in football and other sports.
Having been held in Bologna, Italy for the past 20 years, moving to London symbolises a bold and substantial step for the conference, motivated by increasing international interest over recent years.
The Knee
The focus of this year’s conference is the footballer’s knee. Knee injuries are amongst the most common injuries across a range of different sports and are especially prevalent in football. This conference aims to tackle the common challenges injuries present to sportspersons and their support teams.
With so many premiership footballers suffering knee injuries during 2011 (Ameobi, Essien and Vidic to name but a few), the importance of caring for the knee has been emphasised. Doubts were even raised as to whether Nemanja Vidic would be able to return to professional football after he injured his ACL – something the experts behind this conference hope to prevent in the future.
International Experts, backed by FIFA
Leading speakers from a multitude of disciplines have been carefully selected to present the findings of the latest research. Speakers were invited to share their knowledge by an outstanding scientific committee from the Isokinetic Medical Group, a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence with over twenty years of experience treating sports injuries. The Isokinetic Medical Group will be joined by members of both FIFA’s and UEFA’s medical committees as well as top Premier League Clubs.
Confirmed speakers at the conference include Peter Brukner – Head of Sports Medicine and Sports Science at Liverpool Football Club, Ian Beasley – Head of Medical Services for the Football Association and Fares Haddad – a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at University Hospital London and director at the Institute of Sport, Exercise & Health.
These people form just a fraction of the many attendees from the realms of physiotherapy, osteopathy, orthopaedics and sports science joining the conference from all over the world, not to mention managers, former international football players and representatives from the media.
“This conference will exhibit the cutting-edge of injury prevention and treatment technology presented by individuals at the forefront of international research,” said Stefano Della Villa, Conference President and Founder of the Isokinetic Medical Group. “There is new information coming out every day that can help the development and recovery of both professional and recreational athletes. By attending the conference, delegates and medical professionals can learn about the latest techniques to help improve the care they can offer.”
The deadline for early registration for the 2012 Football Medicine Strategies for Knee Injuries is February 1st, by booking before then delegates can take advantage of discounted passes. Attendees can register for the conference here: http://bit.ly/wtDDif
