Flying Elephant Pub & Grill Announces Winner of Its First Annual Chili Cook-Off Event

Premier Live Music and Entertainment Venue in North County San Diego Rewards Winner with Inclusion on Menu.

San Diego, CA, January 18, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Flying Elephant Pub & Grill rang in the new year with some spice. The premier live music and entertainment venue in North County, San Diego, hosted its first-ever annual Chili Cook-Off Contest on New Year’s Day. The pub invited the community to create and bring in their best chili dish to be tasted and judged by restaurant guests. The prize up for grabs was a coveted spot on the Flying Elephant Pub & Grill’s menu, which features the infamous Bacon Bloody Mary.

With the long-standing Chargers and Raiders rivalry playing on televisions in the background, Flying Elephant Pub & Grill guests were asked to sample 10 different contestant recipes and submit their vote for the “Best Chili.” After a short deliberation, local Carlsbad resident and Flying Elephant Pub & Grill regular, Geoffrey Mountain’s “Big Hill’s Chili” was unanimously announced as the winner.

“Taking home the title feels unbelievable,” said Mountain. “It’s a lot of fun to be able to share my many years of hard work developing this recipe with my fellow San Diegans. Also, as a Flying Elephant Pub & Grill regular, I can’t wait to see my ‘Big Hill’s Chili’ on the pub’s famed menu.”

Having perfected his chili dish for the past 15 years, Mountain’s “Big Hill’s Chili” recipe includes six different chilies, pork, chicken and various spices cooked to perfection for 24 hours. Starting today through the end of July, Flying Elephant Pub & Grill fans can find “Big Hill’s Chili” on the menu to be ordered on its own or alongside the pub’s chili dogs, french fries and burgers.

In addition to “Big Hill’s Chili,” Flying Elephant Pub & Grill also offers all-American cuisine and is known for its burgers, pizzas, loaded tater tots, Elephant bites (pizza dough bites), chicken and waffles. Happy Hour specials are offered throughout the week and all day Sunday, in addition to two-for-one burgers, pizzas and pastas, Monday through Wednesday, respectively.
