Internationally-Acclaimed Enka Artist, Jero, Joins the Japanese Chamber of Commerce for an Evening of Fine Dining at Chicago Prime Steakhouse

Chicago, IL, January 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Jero, Japanese iconoclast and the country’s first internationally-acclaimed African American Enka singer dined at Chicago Prime Steakhouse on Friday, January 13, 2012 with members of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Chicago. Originally a Pittsburgh native, Jero is credited with redefining the genre of Japanese Enka music with his classical voice and distinctive hip-hop image.

Invited to perform at The Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s Chicago Japanese New Year’s Party and Japan Earthquake Relief Fundraiser at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center on Sunday, January 15 2012, the singer and his companions took some time out to enjoy the classic flavors of Chicago Prime’s highest quality steaks – a culinary contrast to the beef available in Japan.

Managing Partner, Andy-John Kalkounos, engaged the entourage by personally recommending the flavorful bone-in ribeye paired with a Rex Hill 2009 Oregon Pinot Noir, an example of high-quality American wine – a premiere experience for some gathered at the table.

Jero graciously declined an invitation to perform for patrons in the lounge, citing the growing, but not yet sweeping popularity of Enka music in American culture.
