Junior League of Greater Orlando Launches “Hoops for Hunger” Charity Gala to Conquer Childhood Hunger and Poverty
Orlando, FL, January 22, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Public Tickets Available for Purchase
This year, the Junior League of Greater Orlando will host its first March Madness-inspired charity gala, Hoops for Hunger, on Saturday, March 10, 2012. The evening promises such entertainment as music and dancing under the palms of Terrace390’s magnificent outdoor patio, basketball-themed carnival games, and bidding on sought-after silent auction items, all while viewing live coverage of the NCAA conference tournament and cheering on favorite college teams.
Building upon the success of its fall fundraiser, the Harvest Hustle 5K, which drew over 700 participants in support of JLGO programs and the Second Harvest Food Bank, JLGO expects that the Orlando community will turn out in full force for this spring’s sports-themed gala. Funds from the Hoops for Hunger gala will be distributed among Junior League-sponsored community programs such as Kids in the Kitchen and HIP (Healthy, Informed, Playful) Kids that support JLGO’s core cause: ending childhood hunger and poverty in Greater Orlando.
“Last year, nearly one in five of our neighbors could not afford to buy food,” says Allison Hudson, President of the Junior League of Greater Orlando. “When 21 percent of children in our area live in poverty, we must come together as a community to provide food for these hungry families. Hoops for Hunger will be a fun event with direct, impactful results in our community.”
Junior League of Greater Orlando’s Hoops for Hunger Charity Gala will take place on Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Terrace390. Cocktail attire is suggested, and guests are encouraged to embellish with the colors of their favorite college team. A variety of delicious appetizers and a cash bar with fantastic drink specials will be available throughout the night. Tickets for the event may be purchased for $75 per person on JLGO’s website www.jlgo.org or by calling (407) 422-5918.
