Todd & Michelle Usher of Addison Homes have been included in Greenville Business Magazine’s list of “Greenville's 50 Most Influential People in 2011.” As principals of Addison Homes -- a residential builder headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina -- the Ushers were selected in large part for their impact on energy-efficient housing and sustainable construction.

Greenville, SC, January 25, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Addison Homes Principals Todd and Michelle Usher have been included in Greenville Business Magazine’s list of “50 Most Influential People in 2011.”

The annual compilation recognizes those who’ve had the most impact in shaping Greenville’s business and community landscape in a given year. The 2011 list appeared in the magazine’s January 2012 issue. See this link (http://www.greenvillebusinessmag.com/People/50-Most-Influential.aspx) for the complete list.

As President and Vice President, respectively, of Addison Homes, Todd and Michelle focus on energy- and resource-efficient homes built to rigorous environmental standards. This emphasis positions the company at the forefront of sustainable construction, providing a forum to help bring green building – once a “fringe” concept – into the mainstream. This positively impacts homeowners as well as the overall environment via reduced energy consumption and increased resource efficiency.

Addison Homes’ influence on eco-friendly building received high-profile recognition in 2011 when the company won a Green Advocacy Award from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) for its consistent commitment to sustainable construction as well as various community education initiatives. What’s more, Todd became the first builder in the entire country to earn NAHB’s new Master Certified Green Professional designation.

Todd and Michelle’s influence isn’t focused only on those who can afford custom homes. The couple consistently advocates high-performance building standards for Greenville’s Habitat for Humanity, and Todd serves as an energy-efficiency consultant and third party rater to certify the non-profit’s qualifying homes to ENERGY STAR® and EarthCraft House™ standards.

The long-standing Addison Homes/Greenville Habitat partnership is one of only nine examples of successful programs highlighted in “High Performance Home Building Guide for Habitat for Humanity Affiliates,” a publication designed by the Federation of American Scientists to assist Habitat programs across the country in their efforts to build sustainable housing.

The Ushers are also active in professional and nonprofit organizations.
