Children’s Book Released for Retired Teacher Turned School Volunteer

Oceanside, CA, October 31, 2005 --(PR.com)-- TATO captures children’s imaginations by recognizing their desire to earn the admiration of the adults closest to them. The story casts Michael Tate, an inventive and willful boy, and his bossy older sister, Nicole, into a strange world filled with fantastic beings and incredible events in order to rescue their parents, held hostage by the evil power that rules the realm.

Gogolewski, a retired elementary schoolteacher, wrote a teachers’ supplement for the story, which includes both a language arts and science component. She will pilot the program in a fourth and fifth grade classroom at Lake Elementary, California, where she teaches writing and science as a volunteer. She will also pilot the program in various schools in the West Contra Costa School District and Palo Alto Unified School District. As the story revolves around a boy and a lot of magic, Gogolewski will use science experiments to explain a number of illusions in the story. Children will also engage in language arts activities, such as character report cards and wanted posters of the villain.

TATO is the second novel for Kathe Gogolewski, who published a romantic suspense, A Promise to Keep, in February, 2005 available from Double Dragon Publishing under her pen name, Ann Durand. She is also an editor for The Muse Marquee, an ezine for writers. She has won awards for her short stories and poems, which have been published by Long Story Short, JacoByte Books, Penwomanship, and Storyteller Magazine. She has contributed to two anthologies: The Muse on Writing, is due from Double Dragon Publishing in April, 2006, and Spiritual Visitations, is due from Zumaya Publications in 2008. She is a board member for Authors’ Coalition and the Museitup Club, an online writing critique group and one of Writer’s Digest “Best 101 Writing Sites, 2005.”
