DHS to Address Considerations in Using Pre-Approved DoD Applications for Border Security at DSI U.S./Canada Border Security Summit
Today, the U.S. and Canada continue to expand on a cooperative law enforcement relationship for their shared border. With a new Maritime Strategy laid out by the USCG, considerations by DHS to use pre-approved DoD applications, and continued achievements in real time situational awareness and information sharing by RCMP and CBSA, the shared border environment is on a path for creating a truly secure and efficient border.
Washington, DC, January 26, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Defense Strategies Institute, a Veteran Owned SBA, will host its upcoming U.S. - Canada Border Security Summit in Detroit, MI, April 3 - 4, 2012.
To share responsibility for the safety, security, and resilience of the United States and Canadian border on efficient and effective real time situational awareness and interoperability of intelligence between the countries has created the need to bring together leaders in border security and in order to discuss and debate the next-steps for today, tomorrow, and the future.
“DSI’s upcoming Summit recognizes that in a field such as border security, where there are multiple agents acting in tandem, it is extremely important that all involved are working towards a cohesive and holistic approach. Advancements towards achieving more efficient threat assessments, investigations, and operations, continue to be a top priority for both countries… We have created an agenda that offers multiple viewpoints and perspectives of the frontline agents and departments from both Canada and the United States charged with protecting and managing our shared border. While the field has seen an immense amount of ebbing and flowing, we believe that truly great advancements are on the horizon…. and this is why our Senior Partners decided to lend our expertise towards creating a forum that can bring together stakeholders across the continuum of the community,” stated Lisa Madison, Director of Communications for Defense Strategies Institute.
Some of the leading experts that will be speaking include:
* Mark S. Borkowski, Assistant Commissioner, Office of Technology Innovation and Acquisition, U.S.Customs and Border Protection
* Richard Comerford, Regional Director General, Southern Ontario Region, CBSA
* Anh Duong, SES, Director, Borders and Maritime Security Division, S&T Directorate, DHS
* Chief Randy Gallegos, Chief Border Patrol Agent, Detroit Sector, U.S. Border Patrol
* Stephanie Kirkland, Director General, Biometrics Project Office, CIC
* Joe Oliver, Chief Superintendant, Director General for Border Integrity, RCMP
* RDML Michael Parks, 9th District Commander, USCG
* Jody Thomas, Deputy Commissioner, Operations, Canadian Coast Guard
Recognizing the great sacrifice that our men and women of our border community have endured, the summit will benefit the non profit 501c3 Roger Foundation (Supporting Agents and families of CBP & ICE) and The RCMP National Remembrance Fund.
The forum is open to the public, however seating is limited. Anyone interested in participating in the Summit can go to Defense Strategies Institute's website at www.dsigroup.org for more information or contact Lisa Madison at lmadison@dsigroup.org 1-347-732-5336.
