SOS Africa Launches Charity Video Appeal
Shepton Mallett, United Kingdom, January 27, 2012 --(PR.com)-- SOS Africa, a non-profit charity which funds the education and care of underprivileged South African township children, has today launched its first ever charity video.
The video’s release marks a crowning moment for SOS Africa, which is currently celebrating its 9th birthday. The video was shot over a week in Mafikeng, South Africa and visits the children in their school/home environments, including interviews with teachers, parents, patrons and the children themselves. The video also features the first SOS Africa child, whose development at the hands of the local education system is real testimony to the charity’s work and the difference SOS Africa’s input can make to a township child.
It’s a week of firsts for the charity which has also welcomed the launch of their school bus thanks to months of fundraising efforts and donations from generous supporters.
Matt Crowcombe, founder of SOS Africa, believes the video will do much to promote the charity. “We want to give people a better understanding of what we are trying to achieve, to help them see the difference we make through the eyes of the children. This year we launch an appeal to build an Aftercare Centre in Mafikeng and we hope the video will significantly help with the fundraising for this new project.”
The production of a video has always been a seemingly unattainable dream for SOS Africa owing to the astronomical production costs usually involved. However, the charity was lucky enough to meet an experienced film editor and producer, Slade Lamey, who was so impressed with the ethos of the charity that he not only offered to film and produce a video free of charge; he also became a child’s lifetime sponsor after spending some time with the children.
Matt Crowcombe can’t believe the launch is finally here: “We’re very excited about the launch of the video; we think it’s a fantastic showcase of our work. We would like to say a huge thank you to Slade; this would never have been possible without his generosity and hard work. His warm hearted gesture will make a big difference to the lives of many children fighting their way out of poverty.”
