LamanBlu Reports on the Top Trends for Fall/Holiday 2012
LamanBlu reports on the top trends for upcoming wholesale season of Fall and Holiday 2012. Learn about the top color, fabric, print and aesthetics for the season.
Golden, CO, January 27, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Blue is the new green and the eco-friendly LamanBlu™ collection lives that aesthetic. Reflecting trends including “Underwater Variation” by Le Cuir a Paris and “Submerge” by Pantone, the collection radiates the varying blues of the undulating ocean. There is also a nod to the newest trend to emerge for the season, “Horse Play,” with interest stirring up all things equestrian.
“I love trend reporting – it’s a really fun part of the business...picking and choosing which trends to follow, and which ones to create! We look at the trends for the industry as a whole, not just children’s. The key of course, it to interpret them in ways that are suitable for children, and for your customer base,” says Gibson.
LamanBlu™ (literally “laman blou”) means “blue sea” in Papiamentu and serves as a constant source of inspiration for the collection, so it seems natural to pick up on the new focus of water trends. The exploration of the ocean depths are a natural for the darker, cozier shades craved in winter and encompass the ocean’s variety of shades, ranging from aqua to the deep, dark blue of the ocean over the Cayman trench as well as the inky black of the sea at night, balanced by sea anemone pink.
Submerge reflects the same color palette, but additional interest is interjected by treatments, including folding and gathering to create fullness and interest in these darker colors. Dip-dyeing is also an important technique, and for LamanBlu™, it’s done by hand to give each piece a unique look in the colors of the ocean or sunset pink.
Prints for the season range from a wave inspired print to pristine paisleys which have a Persian origin and become adorable when turned into paisley animal embroideries.
Fabrications for the season remain eco-friendly and have a wonderful feel and range from Micro-Modal knits to recycled polyester and organic cotton blends to silk ottomans to denim and lace to hemp and organic cottons, all machine washable.
“With movies like ‘Warhorse’ on the horizon, the equestrian world is making its mark on international design once again,” according to StyleSight. And LamanBlu™ has its share of equestrian inspired pieces with a Victorian flare which include petti-coat dresses, twirly skirts, Jasmine Jeans and of course, dungarees. “One of my favorite activities is horseback riding,” says Gibson “I’ve been so excited to create some denim pieces for the collection which are inspired by my own horses.”
